Deviations From History?[edit]

It doesn't seem to be me that Prince Yongxing is based on the actual brother of the Qianlong Emperor, whereas Prince Mianning and Miankai are real. (It seems others agree with me because he doesn't get the "Historical figures" category tag like everyone else.) Should we note in this in the "Deviations from History" section? -- strangerface

Yes. Yongxing is entirely fictional. Despite the mention that he could have taken the throne, age wasn't an indicator of who would get the throne (the Jiaqing Emperor was the fourth eldest son at the time of his ascension to the throne), so he can easily be worked into history without too much change. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qianlong_Emperor#Children

Hah, yeah I'd seen that but I don't know any Chinese so I was like "Well, I don't THINK he's real... but maybe the names weren't translated the same." Thanks for confirming! I didn't want to add it myself in case I was being stupid American. -- strangerface
It looks as if Yongxing may be a historical figure after all, at least according to this page-- I'll add the link to his article for more attention later. --Wombat1138 10:24, 9 September 2010 (PDT)

Location of house[edit]

I'm going though the archives for Naomi Novik on LiveJournal, to see if there have been any bonus questions answered about the series. One thing I've found so far is where Laurence, Hammond and Temeraire stay when in Peking; it's on the island directly Southwest of the Forbidden City [1]. Almaron 20:22, 8 September 2010 (PDT)

A different title?[edit]

According to this [2] entry on Livejournal, "Throne Of Jade" was originally titled/had the working title "Luck And Palaces". Almaron 20:27, 8 September 2010 (PDT)
