We should probably also split this into three groups - Currently Serving, Breeding Grounds/Inactive & Feral. Although, this page IS titled Active Aviators. Perhaps we should rename the page? We don't want too many articles on the same thing. [[User:Almaron|Almaron]] 19:42, 3 September 2010 (PDT)

This list is going to get increasingly obsolete as the series goes on and new dragons and crew are killed, so should we redo this, and break it up into areas for each year? For instance, we could have a group entitled 1805, and it could list the Loch Laggan and Dover Coverts, and the known crew there at that time, as well as listing their death dates next to it. Then do the same for 1806, 1807 and so on. I might give this a start, but I'm not familiar enough with it to do it all. Almaron 18:57, 3 September 2010 (PDT)

IMHO it would make more sense to simply attach a date range to each name, rather than replicating many names every year. It would also be nice to avoid creating duplicate entries for aviators when they change dragons, though at the moment, the list mainly concentrates on captains except for Temeraire's full crew. Come to think of it, should the article be tweaked into a more general list of known aviators and their billets, including now-inactive ones like Lenton? It might be another good place for a dynamic table that could be sorted either by the aviator's name or the dragon's.--Wombat1138 19:13, 3 September 2010 (PDT)
Here's a format I was working on; does this look alright (I'll delete it from here later; it screws up the page) Almaron 19:18, 3 September 2010 (PDT)
Oog. That makes for a *huge* page-- would it possible to make each year's section individually collapsible/expandable? --Wombat1138 19:22, 3 September 2010 (PDT)
I'm looking at this again, and I agree. Perhaps this area should just list Dragons and their captains, and we link to another page (such as the existing page for Temeraire's Officers and Crew) for the midwingmen and other crew. What about a table? Lists Dragons first, riders next, times when we know they were active, actions they participated in, and whether they're dead or not. Almaron 19:24, 3 September 2010 (PDT)

How about this:

Dragon Captain Pre-1805 Events 1805 Events 1806 Events 1807 Events
Examplis Captain John Smith Battle Of The Glorious First Stationed at Dover, early 1805.

Battle of Dover.

Perished from Dragon Plague, mid 1806. N/A
