Biography[edit]
He was a famous poet and wrote for example Julius Caesar. In his theater plays appear dragons (Vici) and his plays are part of the common knowledge. Laurence knows at least one piece of him by heart (the one he tells Lady Kiyomizu) and takes care that his young sailors and aviators learn some of Shakespeare's pieces too. It's likely that Laurence read them to Temeraire too. Shakespeare's pieces can be recited in various situations. Laurence listened to them during his youth on the different ships.
