He survives the sinking of the Allegiance and together with Urquhart he starts a mutiny against the aviators. When he attacks Demane it causes Kulingile's rage and he is injured but doesn't die as the aviators hoped. He is very big, has got very big hands and many broken teeth that remind of former brawls. He deserts at Talcahuano and hides in Magaya's ayllu. She payes lether, shoes, salt, clothes and dried corn for him to the aviators.
