Return from China
In the summer of 1806, Laurence received orders to retrieve eggs from Istanbul. With the HMS Allegiance unavailable for the next two months, Laurence decided to try the overland route. Enlisting Tharkay as a guide, he and Temeraire traveled north to the Silk Road, then west to Istanbul.
