Biography[edit]
Praecursoris was a French dragon who accompanied his captain, Jean-Paul Choiseul, to Britain after Napoleon Bonaparte came to power in France. During training, he acts as something of a foil to Temeraire, increasing his interest in formation flying and improving his performance.
Although Choiseul appeared to be a royalist seeking asylum, he had come to Britain to do Napoleon's bidding. Choiseul was caught and eventually executed. Praecursoris was deeply upset, but allowed himself to be taken to Newfoundland for breeding. Temeraire was of the opinion that Praecursoris should never have allowed Choiseul to come to Britain under false pretenses, and he shared his captain's guilt.
