Naomi Novik has written several miscellaneous works of "Temeraire"-related short fiction. Many of them qualify as "official fanfic" in that although written by Novik, they do not fit into the canonical continuity of the main series.

Suvudu crackfic

"A Dragon And A Swordsman Walk Into A Bar"[1] was written in response to a reader popularity poll on the Suvudu website. In that round of the poll, Temeraire was pitted against Jaime Lannister, a character from George R. R. Martin's series "A Song of Ice and Fire". The story presents Novik's vision of the battle between them.

Drabbles

A drabble is a short story of 100 words or less. Shortly after the publication of Tongues of Serpents in 2010, Novik wrote a series of Temeraire drabbles.

Artfic

As another promotion for Tongues of Serpents, Novik announced a fanart contest (deadline 31 August 2010)[2]. She will choose fifteen favorite pieces of art, write short stories for each one, and publish all of them in a limited-edition chapbook from Subterranean Press. The publication date for the chapbook has not yet been announced.
