A 36-gun French frigate captured by the HMS Reliant in early 1805 by Captain William Laurence and his crew. Prior to its capture, the ship had a run of bad luck, including fever among the crew, a leaking water tank which had necessitated rationing, and finally a significant storm prior to its encounter with Reliant.

The Amitie's captain ordered her logs thrown overboard prior to her capture. Based upon markings on water kegs, Laurence believed its last port might have been Rio.
