Grig was a light-weight dragon in the service of [[Ivan Rozhkov]] and [[Vosyem]], of the Twenty-Sixth Regiment of the Air. He fetched Vosyem water and did her bidding, as was the way in Russian coverts; small dragons were like servants to the large ones, who never left their treasure.

Temeraire noted that Grig had a "narrow white head, arrow shaped". As they other light-weights of Grig's flock were described as white or grey, Grig's entire body was likely white-colored. All of Grig's flock were also planted with steel rings, and likely, Grig was as well.
